Os autores relatam um caso de aneurisma aterosclerótico isolado da artéria femoral profunda em paciente de 34 anos, do sexo masculino, evidenciando sintomatologia não relacionada ao achado por ocasião de exame físico durante consulta médica. O diagnóstico foi confirmado por duplex scan, que evidenciou um aneurisma da artéria femoral profunda com 8,36 cm de diâmetro. Devido ao risco de complicações estabelecido na revisão da literatura, particularmente de ruptura e embolização, optou-se por tratamento cirúrgico. Para o planejamento operatório, dispensou-se o estudo arteriográfico, visto que a tomografia computadorizada e a angiorressonância mostraram-se suficientes, sem os riscos inerentes ao procedimento arteriográfico. O tratamento consistiu em ligadura e ressecção do aneurisma, com boa evolução pósoperatória, já que a patência do segmento fêmoro-poplíteo evidenciada pelos estudos de imagem garante a ausência de sintomas isquêmicos nessas situações.

The authors report the case of an isolated aterosclerotic deep femoral artery aneurysm in a 34 year-old male patient that exhibits symptomology not related to the findings of the physical examination. The diagnosis was confirmed by a Duplex scan, which revealed an aneurysm of the deep femoral artery with a diameter of 8.36 cm. Due to the risk of complications established during a literature review, particularly rupture and embolization, surgical treatment was the chosen treatment method. An arteriographic study was utilized to plan the operation, since computerized tomography and angioresonance proved to be sufficient and do not present the risks of the arteriographic procedure. Treatment consisted of the ligature and resection of the aneurysm with a solid postoperative evolution, as the patency of the femoral-popliteal segment shown by the image studies guarantees the absence of ischemic symptoms in these situations,
